Tension is high in Nairobi's Ruaraka area following the massacre of 8 people by gunmen whom eyewitnesses say were all in police uniform.

Residents of Riverside woke up Sunday morning to shocking scenes of bodies strewn all over the place.

Eyewitnesses say they counted at least 8 bodies at the scene of the incident.

The deceased are reportedly from one ethnic community.

Unconfirmed reports say that the killers may have intended to send a chill among opposition supporters in an attempt to intimidate them ahead of the Supreme Court verdict on the presidential election.

A private car was torched and reduced to a shell after angry residents took to the streets to avenge the killings.
